The Center for Mind, Brain, and Culture invites Interdisciplinary Neuroscience Pilot Research Fund proposals.  This fund is designed to stimulate new multidisciplinary collaborations by supporting graduate students and postdoctoral fellows in the development of collaborative, interdisciplinary pilot work with the potential to lead to larger, externally-funded projects. Proposed projects must integrate data, concepts, methods and/or theories from multiple fields and be supported by faculty in two or more disciplines. Maximum award amount: $4,000.

Proposal review will begin December 15, 2017.  Submit proposals and supporting documents by email to: cmbc@emory.edu

Eligibility

  • Eligible applicants include all Emory graduate students and post-doctoral fellows
  • Support of two or more faculty in different disciplines is required. At least one must hold an appointment in the Emory College of Arts and Sciences.

  • Interdisciplinarity
  • Feasibility
  • Likelihood of attracting external funding

Proposals should include:

  • Completed cover sheet with supporting faculty signatures
  • Research plan (2500 words)
  • Bibliography
  • Itemized Budget & Justification
  • Applicant CV
  • Supporting Faculty CVs

Research plans must explicitly address

  • Research question and motivation
  • Overview of the research programs/approaches of participating PIs
  • Interdisciplinarity of approach
  • Rationale for the unique contributions of the interdisciplinary approach
  • Proposed Pilot Activity
  • Feasibility
  • Extent to which pilot project will contribute to the development of a full-blown collaborative project
